This is a commission for a client in Germany who wanted a faerie dragon from World of Warcraft! It was the toughest commission I've had to date and it took me a long time to finish, if you look in my scraps you can see all the wing prototypes. It's not the exact colours of a faerie dragon because of the fantasy film wings but in the right light it's pretty colourful!

I make my dolls entirely from scratch, staring with a wire armature held together with epoxy putty. I then sculpt the fimo details on and bake the whole thing. Once it's out of the oven I wrap it in quilt batting then measure a pattern and cut the fur (or in this case, spandex). The fabric is hand sewn using a ladder stitch to hide the seams, then brushed and painted with dylon fabric paints. Any details are glued on (like feathers, glitter or more fur), the fimo painted with acrylics and finally covered in a matt varnish to protect the paint, or gloss varnish on nails, eyes and scales/beaks.
If you would like to commission me the prices are: £50 without wings £70 with wings I do character designs and custom creatures - ie if you don't have a design I can take three of your favourite animals and make you a doll from them. Please send any commission enquiries by note!
Those wings can be so hard to make but I love the results I really like the curls!! It's hard for me to keep nice curls, I usually end up melting them into ragged wings accidentally ;( I've never played WoW but I have so many friends that are obsessed with it! Wish I had the spare time hehe
I've never used fantasy film before but it was a nice effect in the end. It didn't photograph very well though... But I guess it just takes practice ^_^
It doesn't cooperate well being photographed! When you get a nice angle on the doll or sculpture, the fantasyfilm doesnt look right, and when you get a good angle on the fantasy film, the sculpture looks odd haha its a stubborn material
