This is *Saritadawolf's lammergeier gryphon Ozzy! Who turned out to be a really fun commission. :)

I made a lammergeier gryphon once before during a project last year when I first got into making the dolls; it was nice to revisit the same animal one year later.

He measures 7.5 x 4.5 x 14 inches and is entirely posable, including his wings.

My dolls are fimo sculpted onto a wire armature which has been wrapped in batting. I then measure and cut a pattern out of faux fur and hand sew this around the armature. Any details are glued on, the wings are then made (if applicable) and finally the fimo is painted and varnished. The whole process takes a few days - one day I'll record how many hours!

He's posing here with a fimo light horn I made for myself at Halloween but didn't end up wearing.

Thanks for looking!

Commissions are currently closed but due to open again after May 20th. Please contact me if you would like to be put on a waiting list. Prices are £50 without wings and £70 with wings.

I can't get over his wings. Or really him in general. What exactly is a lammergeier?

I think they're vultures, or a member of the vulture family, or cousins of vultures... Something like that.
Anyway they're enormous white, silver and black birds of prey that eat bones. They fly up high with a bone then drop it on a big flat rock to smash it, then land and eat the shards. They're absolutely fascinating birds, I saw one once in France with a bone, it was really thrilling. They're also known as bearded vultures.

Seriously awesome! I've been so busy recently and consequently haven't been on dA for a month or two...so I was mega impressed when I logged on and saw all the dolls you've been making! The wings on this one are so amazing, I watched the video you made of it. Keep up the incredible work!

Heh yeah I've been a busy bee... The wing construction has got a lot better since I made your doll, but it's still special to me because it was my first. :D
