Description
A bespoke art doll made using plastic, minky, polymer clay, real chicken feathers from my own flock, velvet, acrylic paint and some other misc materials! He is 6” tall sitting and his wings are 13” across.
He took nearly a month on and off to make, he would have been done in three weeks if it hadn’t been for a late delivery of velvet! One week overdue, I wasn’t happy!
His head was originally sculpted in fimo and then moulded and cast in resin, as were his hands and feet. The feet have had minky attached to them for added realism, took a long time to do but was definitely worth it.
He’s a cute wee guy and had a very rewarding colour-scheme that I had fun painting. The wings were really complex to work out, I spent a lot - a LOT - of time making masks for the wings (they were originally plain white velvet) and getting the details right. As he’s an owl/moth combo I wanted the top half of the wings to look almost like outstretched owl wings. They lent themselves well to the shape of a moth, I was pretty pleased with that heh
At some point I’ll upload the concept sketches I drew
