Ty and Loke by Magweno Ty and Loke by Magweno

Ty and Loke, a silver and red fox duo made on commission for *Clockstopper. I tried a different method making the patterns for these guys because of Loke's white tummy and it turned out to be easier than the patterns I used to make haha! So I've adopted a new technique.

They have been sculpted in fimo and sculpey, baked then have had patterns measured and cut, handsewn then finished with acrylic paints and an airbrush. They have a wire armature so they can be posed.

I take custom commissions, please send me a note for a quote (prices range from 150-300) or an email at hello [at] magweno.com

Thanks for looking! ^_^

They're really adorable, I love that first picture especially. The colour of the fur on Loke is really well done, and both of them look so soft and furry  You did a great job on their eyes, especially Loke's... odd eyes are hard to pull off well! My only suggestion is that the faces and legs look too smooth to me, on something like foxes that are super furry I think it would look nicer to have sculpted fur on those parts, or flocked them, or something similar. Anyway, great work as always! :aww:

I'd love to get into flocking ;u; I'm talking to an amazing 1/12th scale sculptor at the moment who flocks hers and she's giving me some tips on flocking which is great. But I also started casting dolls which means the silicone thing won't be far away, which means I can punch hairs in which would look even cooler.
I sculpted fur onto the dragon fox and a doll that's coming up for sale soon, I've always had a weird problem with it but it actually looks pretty cool haha. my business advisor is gonna be so pissed when he hears I'm spending even MORE time sculpting LOL

Ah yes, punching hairs, that would look awesome! I was iffy with the idea of sculpting fur and glueing fur onto mine, I thought the mix would look weird but since I've been doing it it's grown on me. How long do you usually spend on the sculpting part? It's one of those things that takes less time the more you do it, especially for tedious junk like scales and fur. That's kind of funny he doesn't want you to spend so much time sculpting :XD: Honestly I like the idea of flocking or punched hairs waaaay more than sculpted hair though... :eager:

Yeah I suppose, scales don't take me very long anymore now that I've developed a few techniques so I suppose I'll just have to practice the fur. It usually takes about three or four hours to sculpt a doll :S
Me too! Check out her awesome falcon, she cuts and glues all the feathers: [link] [link]

Wow, those are amazing! Guh I need to learn how to do that and make a life size robotic kirin. Guess I'll need to learn robotics first though. :XD: I'm still awful at sculpting fur, I never sculpt hair because I always give my guys real hair so when I do it's very difficult. When I do I always just plop tons of oil onto it because when I cut lines for fur in I get little specks of clay dug up all over the place. And then the sculpture gets crazy slimy. Bleh. I should learn to flock stuff :XD:

I know a bit of robotics, maybe we can join forces and make kirins for people to ride. yup. how cool would that be?!

:( I did the same except I used turps to melt the balls and it nearly turned into moosh. so I used baby powder to save it, and it turned into a bizarre paste. but held it's shape. so I'm thinking about getting some water based clay and just using that to sculpt for casting instead haha

Sounds like a plan! That would be amazing. Like those "fur real" horses, except for it's a kirin :squee: I usually moosh it up just before I toss it in the oven but it does get messy. I would imagine the same issue would arise with water based clay and too much water though? I find it helps a bit to use harder clay, like sculpey firm, but it's still something I suck at so I'm not sure my advice has any merit :XD:

shut up you don't suck at sculpting, psshhh. yes it would have the same problem but I find sculpting with WED a LOT easier than fimo. I sculpted scuttle with wed and used a bit of water and baby powder to smooth his wrinkles, it worked sooo well. My uk supplier has stopped stocking it though ARGH :rage: typical. (I just found out :()
