Say hi to the best doll I ever made

I had so many breakthroughs with this doll. Having a break and building a shed obviously did me good. The wings have a new design, the fur was sewn differently, I measured the armature differently, the wadding was wrapped on in a new way, I tried some new techniques painting and sculpting... Obviously the biggest change is utilizing real wing feathers in the wings and I will definitely be doing it again!

Taking photos was fun too!!

--

I make my dolls entirely from scratch, staring with a wire armature held together with epoxy putty. I then sculpt the fimo details on and bake the whole thing. Once it's out of the oven I wrap it in quilt batting then measure a pattern and cut the fur. The fur is hand sewn using a ladder stitch to hide the seams, then brushed and painted with dylon fabric paints. Any details are glued on (like feathers or more fur), the fimo painted with acrylics and finally covered in a matt varnish to protect the paint, or gloss varnish on nails, eyes and scales/beaks.

If you would like to commission me the prices are:
£50 without wings
£70 with wings
I do character designs and custom creatures - ie if you don't have a design I can take three of your favourite animals and make you a doll from them. Please send any commission enquiries by note!

Thanks for looking!

Oh man, thinking of the words to express how amazing I think this is has been so freaking hard, I'm at a loss for words! ;o;
Finally got back home and am able to type something up (my phone won't let me comment on deviations :c )

ANYWAY.
This is beyond amazing...like...I'm blown away with how amazing this has turned out to be. Seeing the WIP pictures was really really cool as well, especially with those wings, seeing how you've set each layer of feathers and such to resemble his dragon wing design is astounding, and they look so beautiful! The stiffer feathers in his wings give them a neat shape, and I love the green! The sculpting of his face is freaking beautiful...the shape of his head, those ears, his teeth, just WOW. His feet are amazing as well, you pulled off his curly claws very very well! And the painting on them is so smooth and pretty! I loooove the transfer from the fur to his sculpted pieces, it's so smooth! The dyeing for his markings on the fur is very well done too, it looks so natural and real.
Just wow...beyond astounded by this...I...idk I love it sooooo much! ;o;

I'm glad you like the wings, I know you said to have a bit of freedom with the design so those pretty wyandotte feathers I thought would work well, and I'm super happy you think so too!
His feet were so much fun! Those curly claws were great fun to get right, although it took a few attempts. & the markings on his fur can get a bit ruffled but if you smooth it down then they look fine :)
I'll take some turn-around photos in my mini-studio (for records and to show details) then post him on Etsy for you.
