Brand Play - Dead Stuff

So I scratched my head and thought about it and remembered a banner I made ages ago for my facebook page. I made a sort of collagey thing of feathers and materials and tools and photographed it, then added typography afterwards. It's a look I like a lot and have tweaked over the years to suit my business cards, but I decided it's time to redo it and do it better. I have quite a few different colours and layouts to choose from now, with different feathers and trinkets, but this is one I know you guys will like It doesn't suit my brand image at all, but it's a nice collection of dead things I have in my cabinet and a pleasing composition for me. I think I will use it over September/October/November when Halloween season is about.

So, to explain a little what is in this composition… Some butterfly wings I found while cleaning my studio at the start of the month, from a ringlet. A baby bunny skull, found in the woods. Twigs, dried ferns, a glass eye, gold bead spaces… And sparrow wings. I have a wood burning stove in my studio and sadly once in the summer last year six or seven sparrow fledglings fell down the chimney and as it was summer there was no reason for me to open the door until Autumn, I only found them when it was far, far too late. Not one to let things go to waste I pinned one pair of wings on some card and left them to dry - they are fantastic drawing reference and so beautiful. The chimney has mesh around the top of it now so no more poor birds can fall down it, but I still have all the wings and legs, kept out of interest.
